We learned about France; where it was on the world map, what it’s flag looks like; and some of the famous Paris landmarks in the Madeline book. We also worked on our RightStart math, memorized our Bible verse for Awana, practiced writing the letter “i,” and recognizing the end sound of words in Step 2 of All About Spelling. G5 had a really difficult time with that. Beginning sounds are no problem, but he couldn’t seem to wrap his brain around listening for the END sound.
Took a Madeline Walk at “half past nine.” We found things so smile at, frown at, and be sad about. 🙂 We also worked on Compassion and Kindness mini-books for our lapbook. We looked at our annual progress report for Harriet, the child we sponsor through World Vision. We looked at her picture and talked about how our family is trying to be compassionate by helping her and her family.
Our Creativi-Tea Party day! We looked through Madeline and discussed how the artists used different types of illustrations throughout the book. We tried making a symmetrical picture with paint, and built an Eiffel Tower out of Legos.
For some reason everyone was grumpy today. Although G5 did have a “lightbulb” moment and started being able to understand the concept of end sounds in All About Spelling. Yay! Skipped math today, although he did practice writing numbers. Also did some Madeline math grouping.
Had a great math day! Had no problem understanding the concepts of 9 and 10, and actually started laying out his tally sticks before I even got that far. *lol* Had a MUCH better time with the end sounds in AAS, except for words that start with “m.” Learned a lot about germs and nasties, the human body, and had a blast playing “Sink that Germ!” For a special treat we went out to dinner at La Madelines. 🙂
